I headed up to Lake Cavanaugh this afternoon at about 5;00 p.m. with Charcoal, the family lab , for a little fishing from the boat launch. When I got there, four or five other fishermen were already there, fishing with bobbers, close to shore. They were teenagers from Camano, trying this lake for the first time. I asked if there was room for me, and they said sure, go ahead. I wasn't using a bobber, so I could cast farther, and stay out of there way. I put a worm and pink marshmallow on,and caught five in about 1 1/2 hrs.Two were easy to release, two, though small, were hooked deep and had to be kept, and the last one was kept because it was a beautiful, deep, 16" bruiser. The lake was quiet, weather about 50 degrees and cloudy, with a couple of showers.I had caught fish more easily at Lake Pearrygin two weeks ago, with one there also 16", but not as deep or pretty as this one, but the Pearrygin fish did fight harder. This fish was quite satisfactory, though, and put on a nice little aerial display on the way in.Quite a pleasing little outing, only about 1/2 hr. from home.
