As it was my last week end before Deer Lake closes I went out early on Saturday. I trolled around the outside of the lake and tried everything. All that I got were a couple of small hits. I decided to bag it and I was trolling back thru the center of the lake I started marking lots of fish. They were all in the top 12' of the surface. On Sunday I went straight to the center of the lake and there they were. I tried a couple of flies, then a couple of Rapalas to no avail. I dug into the old box and came out with a yellow and orange Apex. I put a half of a worm on it, trolled about 2 mph with leaded line, 21/2 colors. It got very busy very quickly. I lost three at the boat, two others away from the boat and ended up with my limit in about an hour and a half. I was exhausted from working so hard. I took home a 5lb., a 4lb. two 3lb. and a 21/2 lb.. Another good day of fishing.

i agree, that's quite a haul! the memories of 17+ pounds of fish in a single day will go a long way during the winter off-season. it's not looking like i'll get out before teh end of the month so my 12lbs of pike last month will have to do.

great job, great report.
