A friend and I went to Silver for some Crappie fishing. The weather was nice, warm and sunny. There was 8 boats in the Hall Rd. Canal when we left at 2:30 PM. We caught about 30 Crappie and about 30 perch. The Crappie were very nice with several over the 9 inch size limit. All were caught and release with the biggest about 14 inches....no tape measure on the boat. Truley the biggest Crappie I have caught at Silver.
The water color is stained, normal for Silver, with no green slime algae this year....yet. The most productive color on our tube jigs was red and white, or anything chartreuse. The Crappie seemed to move through out the canal, so we just moved to find them again. Lots of perch being caught, with the average size 6-7 inches. We did not catch any bigger perch.
The fishing should be good through November. I am surprised that no other perch and crappie reports have been posted yet this year. See you out there!
