OMG.... OMG... I went out to check out what all the talk about the recent planting at Beaver lk. was all about. I don't know the area so when I got near to the park I saw a ton of cars parked on the road. I thought there was some kind of a celebration/party at the community center/park etc. When I got down to the shoreline I couldn't believe my eyes for all the people that I saw.
I fished for 2 hours, fished an inflated worm about 4 ft. off the bottom. Had no bit\es the whole time. Water was calm, overcast, very slight on/off sprinkle. When I put my float tube in I had to inch between the bank fisherman's out cast lines.... getting a few not so happy stares (like what are ya gonna do) -- I realize there is an actual boat launch, but I couldn't find it.... not to mention that it was covered with bank fishers too.
The bank was shoulder to shoulder. On the water I estimated about 40 boats, but then I couldn't see the far end of the lake. I saw two fish caught the whole time. One by a 5 y/o boy who along with his dad, pushed off in their inflatable raft and proceeded to troll down the lake. The whole time in the early quiet hours of the morning, while the dad yelled at and berated the 5 y/o for everything he did. Pretty disgusting dad.... Then there was the wars between the bank fisherman ticked off at the boats too close to shore for them. Many heated verbal exchanges, threats of bodily harm etc.
But on the fishing report news...... A couple of guys on the way out said they got their limit yesterday.
This place will be great come Spring time, but you probably want to stay away for at least a few weeks.

Beaver Lake is always bad right after the triploid plants...

Ahh yes...The sun gently breaks over the horizon and glints off the surface of the still lake. The morning mist slowly lifts to reveal an angler sitting quietly in a boat; a bobber gently floating on the surface waiting to announce the tug of a fish below. The scene is quiet, peaceful, & stress-free. The eagles can be seen, soaring high above, a deer comes down to the shoreline for a morning drink. And then there is Beaver lake after a stocking....

I went....got one fish.

No, I take that back, I nailed my limit...but four of them were perch. Lessay I got one 'Bow

As for the crowds, I was thinking that there should have been someone playing a calliope; it was that kind of circus. I actually saw some guy trolling while being TOWED by another boat.

Even so, for all the people at Beaver yesterday, it was most definitely a GOOD crowd; the most common phrase I heard , "Thanks for your help. "

( And even yesterday at Beaver Lake was still nothing compared to the Cowlitz, down by Blue Creek, when there's a hot steelhead bite. )

I was out there yesterday, Sunday, whith my daughter, in the porta-bote. Total haul of over-sized trout: 0. Waited till mid-day to set sail. Squeezed a launch twix two bankers at the park. One even helped us shove off, probably to get me out of the way faster, but it still was appreciated. Saw a float-tuber comming in with three big specimens. Chatting with a few folks, it seemed the bank anglers were not doing that great. But out in the water, still fishing from boats was apparently working well. Good ol power bait/eggs off the bottom. I was set up for trolling the normally-trusty wedding ring behind the popgear, and that is what we did, by-golly. Sprinkles and showers were a drag, but we still had a good time. Marked many good sized groups of fish on the sonar.

I did witness the joy of a dad berating his son for not playing a fish correctly. But the best circus show was the pack of cub scouts waiting for their nearby meeting at the park to start. They came down to the lake bank and threw rocks amongst the fishing poles and lines in the water. After a few minutes, one of their handlers did notice and tried to convince them to stop. Good times.

Tons of idiot urban fishermen out yesterday. No basic fishing etiquette.

Urbinangler, I saw a portaboat like yours that was being assembled at the boat launch area around 9:00 am, I wondered if that was you, but then maybe you said you had put in over at the park?

Howdy, Quad. There was another one out there when I was out. Think it was the same color and length. And I did not go to the launch at all. Put in and took out at the park, thanks to some cooperating bank anglers.
