I made it to Rufus Woods early Saturday morning. On the water warm and dry at 9:00 am with the help of a couple of local fishermen. (Thanks Guys) My fishing buddy bailed at the last minute and I told him I was going with or without him, rain or shine. I've launched several times by myself and it's not too much of an issue unless you don't want to get wet. This was one morning I didn't want to get wet. Water temp was 52 degrees and the air temp was around 40 degrees. I trolled the south bank from the boat launch to about 7 miles up the lake, crossed the lake and trolled the north shore all the way back to the can line. I trolled a large Black Wooly Bugger on the surface most of the time using Joe Heinlen's set up directions from the new Rufus Woods video posted last week on this site. A big thanks goes out to Joe for all your help. I switched it up a little and used olive color and black with red head wooly buggers on the way back to the launch. I did best with the black wooly bugger with the red head. It was a beautiful day with absolutely no wind. The water was like glass most of the day. The fish were on the small size as far as Rufus Woods goes but as always it's good to be out there. I did keep an 18 incher for dinner. Caught and released between 15 and 20 smaller sized rainbows through out the day. I marked a lot of larger fish along the can line at 20 to 30 feet deep but it was getting late and I didn’t want to pull the boat out by myself in the dark. I'm taking my father in law out next weekend and I think we’ll have a great time depending on the weather.
