Drove to Hog Lake arriving at daybreak. From the boat launch I walked down the east side almost to the end of the lake. The boat launch area had about 1/4 to 1/2 inch Ice and the far side away from the boat launch had no ice. I walked upper edge of cliff until I found a treacherous route down. When I arrived at the water I started with Chartreuse power bait off the bottom, but there was so much Pink rubbed on the rocks I soon switched to pink. I got a few bites but they were slow and Nibbling. I didn't hook any fish. After moving around I switched to rooster tail Black with a worm on and started catching fish. The action was slow, but Fast enough to keep my interest. I was there for about 4 hours and caught the limit 4 about 10" and 1 13". It is a nice lake. I don't know with upcoming storm how much longer there will be open water. It was Friday and I was the only one on the lake, I did hear some people shooting in the distance but no other fisherman.

Thanks for the report, particularly on the ice. I've been wondering how the lake has been doing. This crazy cold snap should help things along considerably.

I like this lake too, it's a neat drive down thru the trees to the water and those cliffs give you some shelter from the wind that can whip across the prairie out there.
