Happy New Years! The Triploid slayers were at it again up at old Rufus Woods. We left Medical Lake at 5:30 am and were on the water by 8 am. We took to the "boat launch" at the tribal headquarters but were very cautious because of the ice and snow built up at the launch. The launch went well but getting out was an ordeal from hell. We headed down the the lower net pens and we hooked up to a buoy and began fishing w/ Mirabu all black jigs. By the second cast of the day we went back to back for the first time. Jake then me and the bite was on. We did well enough with the jigs that we didn't have to bust out the worms. The trick at first was to fish deep. Later on in the morning and early afternoon the fish were in the top 10 feet of water. It was an exciting day in the snow to say the least. In all I, believe that we caught between 30 to 35 trout. Ranging in size from 6 pounds all the way up to the big daddy that I caught at 10lbs. The only drawback to the day was the fact that our fishing net froze in 3 inches of ice in the bottom of our boat! OMG!!! So we had to land the fish with our good ol' bear claws.

Can't wait to come back to Rufus Woods!! Hopefully on Sunday!
