Was watching Hawg Qwest on TV and the BF and I decided we needed to go fishing. Packed up the gear and the new puppy and headed to Beaver Lake. The drizzle stopped by the time we got there, so it wasn't so bad a day to fish. Saw a couple of other diehards out on the point across from the boat launch, talked to one and he had one bite but that was all, no fish caught. Started out using lemon-lime power egges and a gulp worm (forgot the real worms at home in our haste to go fishing). Seems I didn't need them thou, after about 30 minutes my line started slowly going out. I wasn't paying attention, I was playing with the new puppy, when my BF started yelling at me. FISH ON..... After a few minutes of playing the fish, I finally got it to shore. HMM what is it I asked myself. It was the darkest trout I have ever seen, it was dark brown with a bright red slash down its side, about 17 inches long with a serious slime problem. Must be spawning??? Well I decided this is one fish that would live to see another day and i promptly released it. Besides it did not look in anyway appetizing. After another hour and no more bites we packed up the tired out puppy and went home. May try again next weekend since the weather at this point seems promising.

No, not one of them. The native fish get really dark this time of year, it starts every October. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
