Wow! This is the first time I ever tried fishing lake Spanaway, and I was Impressed with the park's facilities, boat launch, docks were all in top form. A nice place to walk the dog, jog, hey, what am I talking about, it's all about the fishing right! Arrived at around 11:00 AM with a fishing friend who thought he fished here in the past before, finding out that it was all new to him also. We were both stoked up to hit this lake with the fishing fever of catching fish, despite the super cold foggy weather, and optimistic these fish here were going to hit are fishing bate tricks all one after the other. We had the privilege of talking to a little four year boy and his dad who caught a huge four pound trout earlier last week from this lake. My fishing buddy, so happen to still have the Olympian newspaper article in his pocket and donated it towards the kid’s records of "archive fame". In return we retrieved some good information of how to fish for the big one at lake Spanaway ourselves, running a slip sinker with18'inch liter and a green power egg. So we fished from the shore and then from the dock, with not one bite whatsoever, we tried different sorts of bate like different color power eggs, worms, and micro waved shrimp, heck we threw a gourmet at the end of our hooks, but the fish were just not biting. We were in good company around other fishermen to help keep each of our minds off the cold. Had the privilege of talking with a retired tournament pro bass fishermen who was very competitive in the Utah, Arizona area. The fog started to break up towards around 2 PM, but the occasional breeze had a bite of freeze to it. With no action we packed it up at 3:30 PM in disappointment, but will be back later when it's warmer.
