Arrived at Eloika (first time) about 9:00 AM, parked at Jerry's Landing and hiked out to a bunch of holes about 100 ft from shore and NE from Jerry's. I was in about 10 to 12 ft of water and I was marking some small fish. Although it is making a lot of noise, the ice is in good shape, - about 6 to 9" thick, fairly clear. I started off jigging an atomic ant with a Berkley maggot. Had a bite about 1/2 hr later and missed it - I wasn't prepared for how light the bite was. Nothing during the 1/2 hr or so - then tried several different types of jigs, flies, powerbait, fire corn, and a small silver Kastmaster with a red salmon egg. I had one more bite by 1:00 pm - and missed it again. The guy next to me had put two on the ice during this time - he started with a Swedish pimple, but had caught both fish on a small white jig. The wind was kickin up a bit and it was time to head home - fish-less. Rats. I'd like to try this lake again. A pix of a deer crossing the lake is attached - cool - lots of turkeys around too
