Arrived at lake 9:10AM, meet a friend and launch the boat. Was at my secret hole (not so secret, others know about it) close to the creek mouth (but not at the mouth). First cast, 20 minutes later, lost a fish... broke the leader. New leader, recast same spot, another 20 minutes and fish on... Initially we thought it was a 8 pound.... I did not want to lose it, so I set the drag really light and fight for 10, 15 minutes. Fish on boat, that had already made my day. Anyway re-casted on the same spot, 40 minutes later another big one, about the same size. This time I tighten a little bit the drag, but it still took 8 to 10 minutes to bring the fish in. After that fished to 1PM with no more bites. My friend had 2 bytes but missed both. As far as I could see, it was a bad day for most everyone. Only saw 2 regular size trouts being caught apart of my 2 monsters. Later on shore I look them again and reduced my estimate to 6 and 7 pounds, but still nice fish, my personal record for trout. Stayed at lake up to 3 PM at the park opposite to boat launch bragging on my fish, so many people saw them. I'll be there again next Saturday though most time I just put time and catch no or few fish. By the way, bait: I was using a combination of glow in the dark white E-Z-egg and green power bait on a size 8 hook. I was placing the egg at the bottom of the hook and shaping the power bait to look like a insect larvae.
