2/21/2009 3:49:00 PMYou definately do not need downriggers. Many times of the year the fish will be in the top 20 feet of surface. Just last week we hooked a nice rainbow that was about 3 inches down from the surface. Use 2 oz now and go up to 5 ounces later on in the summer. Also go in and out of gear, like motoor mooching.
Leaded line from 4 - 7 colors out works extremely well as well. Downriggers work well, especvially for trout in the 55 foot range and definately with Sockeye.
Wait for the water to warm up another 5 degrees and fish the way you are in 35-60 feet of water along the bouy line. You'll do well!
