For the past couple years I have been staying on spectacle around the first part of August I just love the country up there!! In my opinion its the best Washington has to offer and I've been in just about every corner of the state. The road that runs through Loomis and along Palmer Lake is surreal and pristine. There is even a population of Big Horn Sheep in the valley there by Palmer lake. Now to the fishing. It was great as always on spectacle for trout it was a little slow getting the limit this time but that's not a problem when your in country that pretty and there's enough wildlife to keep you buisy, we even saw a badger along the rocky section of the lakes shoreline. We caught a mix bag both days of a few nice brown and the rest were the beautifully colored bows of spectacle lake. The bows were avg. stocker size of about 12-14 inches, the Browns on the other side were 17-21 inches and fought like the dickens. It was a nice to see that the Brown trout Fry that are planted each year in small numbers are doing well and maybe even reproducing naturally out there!! We caught the majority of the fish casting single hook Panther Martens along the Rocky shorelines of the lake. You can get some big fish this way because you can target fallen logs and other fish cover. Have fun and enjoy the scenery.
