So I noticed the sun came out around 11am. I quickly hustled out the door w/ my gear after hearing there's large mouth in Green Lake. I'm from Austin Texas so this news was very refreshing. My bait caster is very dialed in and the wind was at my back so I was making very long casts. As soon as my 3rd cast hit the water, I see white in the distance and... bam! I was thinking, seriously!?!?! I brought the fish in with so much excitement that I had it's head out of the water the whole fight. Turns out it's some kind of trout I think? It was probably just over 2 Ibs and 16 Inches long based on the fact my boots are 13's. I've never caught a trout so it was cool. Great fighters. So I try another angel. My first cast resulted in what I thought was a nice bass following my rapala just a foot or 2 beneath( I had good polarized glasses on thankfully). So I stop the bait and see what the fish was going to do. It stopped. I gave the bait a hard jerk. The fish came closer and took a nibble. I tried to set the hook but I was too slow. I re casted 10 feet past the retreating ''bass''. It comes back at the bait with a lot of speed and bites. I miss the hook set again. This time the fish retreats slowly. I do the same thing once more and get the hook set! It took a solid 2-3 minutes of pulling my line off my spool to get it next to me on the dock. It was another freakin' trout except this one was much bigger. 3-3 1/2 ibs I'm guessing. I've never been so excited and livid at the same time. I'm struggling w/ the fish for a bit and it gets off the hook as some walkers are debating if it's a rainbow, brown and 2 or 3 ibs. Man, those things teeth are sharp. I had to learn that the hard way, ha. Maybe next time. I'm not convinced it was a Brown or a Rainbow? Tell me what you think after looking at the pic's I'll attach. My advice to anyone about my luck today.... If I ever catch any fish anywhere of good size... I fish the spot very thoroughly w/ many different tactics. I'm positive both fish were honing in on the same rock pile in 10-13 feet of water. So I only fished for 40 minutes, but it was exciting! Where are those bass????
