Went out for another day of ice fishing. The ice on the lake is still good since we've had such cold nights. The day, however, was quite pleasant. Even had to take my coat off for a bit especially after drilling a few holes through 16 inches of ice. The fishing was real sporadic with no real flurries of bites. Caught 19 perch (kept 13), 2 pickerel, one bass about 12 inches and three bull heads. All but the 13 perch were released to swim another day. There were about 8 others out on the lake but nobody seemed to be doing well at all. Many said that they didn't even get a bite. I found that the bites that I got were pretty light so they may have been getting bites but unable to detect the bites. The weather is supposed to start heating up so not too many more days to go ice fishing. As a side note, many of the perch I kept had small crappie fry in them.

All things considered, it sounds like you did pretty well. I see from your report that the perch are indeed impacting other species, but crappie spawn pretty heavy also so they should do well enough with the minimum size rules.
