Got to Fish Lake around 3pm and as soon as I got out of my car I saw the only guy fishing packing his stuff up and walking off the dock, I asked him if caught any fish and he said no, just got one bite. Despite the fact that it didn't look very promising, I grabbed my gear and started fishing off the dock through one of the holes the other fisherman drilled in the ice, I figured whats the use spending time to drill my own if there's some there already. By the way anyone that wants to know the ice is 6-8 inches thick but it's really soft ice, there were quite a few footprints out there, I personally have had a lot of time on the ice and I wouldn't trust it. Anyways now to the fish report, as soon as I dropped my slip rig with power bait to the bottom I had a nice bite but I set the hook and it was gone. Then I looked over at my tackle box and noticed a black 1/8th ounce marabou jig. I decided to throw that on my rod with some orange power bait and as soon as that was in the water and I set my pole down BAM! fish on, and then another one with same thing 10 minutes later. This whole time the guy that was walking off when I got there was sitting in his truck watching me catch fish, he waited a while after the second fish and when he saw I wasn't catching anything more he left, from about 3:30- 6:00 I tried every possible thing I could think of but nothing worked anymore, it was dead from then on. It was a really great day for me to be out. This is really sad but those 2 trout were the 2nd and 3rd fish of the year for me so all in all it was a great day on an awesome lake. - TroutPro

P.S. If anyone wants any tips or advice on anything I would be more than happy to help.

Troutpro.I used to live up there at Lake Wenatchee when My Dad worked for the park there. I fished off of the Cove dock and out of a boat whenever I could. That black marabou jig can be a killer rig at times, espaciallty up at Rufus Woods below Grand Coulee for big Triploid Trout. That water out in front of the Cove dock ranges any where between 15' and 20'. I usually use a 1/32 oz canyon lure eyeball leadhead with a 2" piece of crawler and a single pautske balls of fire red salmon egg. I always use Mike's glo oil shrimp flavor to cover my scent. When fishing Fish Lake, it's always nice to have a 1/16th oz. round glow in the dark jig head. I'll tip that jighead with a piece of cooked shrimp from the grocery store. (The small kind that fits perfect on your hook) A small # 2 silver/ Red prism Swedish pimple jigging spoon with the red plastic flipper tipped with a piece of worm also works well . The added bonus is that the swedish Pimple catches perch as well as trout. A lot of times, I'll carry a paper clip to remove a perch eye and tip my spoon or jig with it. The bigger browns in fish lake love this! If you can find Mack's cherise colored green or pink glo hooks in size #8, these work awesome cause you can strobe them with a flashlight and the fish can see them really well down deep. Tip em' with worm, maggot or perch eye and you will catch everything that swims in Fish lake. Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee carries most of this stuff too. The guys there should be able to back up all of these tips that I shared with you. Good luck! The Jigmiester

Thanks for the tips man, I lived 12 miles away from the lake for 5 years myself, so I have the lake figured out pretty good but it's always nice to see what other people use and have good luck with, My favorite lure for that lake when I'm trolling is a silver rapala with a blue back and throw size 8 siwash single hooks on and you will be catching fish all day long, Next time your up there you should give it a try, o also about the swedish pimples I'm well aware that it's an effective lure, I have about 5 differant colors but I always use the green 1/5th ounce with size 6 or 8 siwash hook and worm and can't keep the fish off while ice fishing, I have pulled a couple 6 pound triploids through the ice on the swedish pimple!
