The citation was eventually dismissed by the Snohomish County prosecutor, but it was a gigantic pain in the butt. They really should post a sign at the launch...
Fishing season @ Storm Lake starts April 25th (the last Saturday in April). Finding a parking spot is always a challenge -- especially on weekends.

3/29/2009 3:01:00 PMConsider it a lesson learned. Lakes in WA don't post when they are open. You need a license to fish, and with the license you should get the regs. The regs tell you just about everything you need to know. Page 74 shows the lake was/is closed.
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!

3/29/2009 3:59:00 PMNo intent there. We all make mistakes. I appreciate that you were adult enough to post a report knowing you made a mistake. That says something about your character. You can get the regulations at most sporting goods stores or stores where sporting goods are sold.

3/29/2009 4:31:00 PMI have fished closed or restricted waters 3 times in my early years( not reading the regs.) I was told each time by the warden that I was in the wrong. They let me go each time as it was obvious I was not breakin the rules intentionally. Once back in the 70's was on Deer creek in Oso, that water has been closed since the 40's . Ohhh doppy me!!!

3/29/2009 6:00:00 PMYes well I have a license and everything, and I looked on the online version of the regs, and nothing was said about Storm Lake. The Gate was open and no signs what so ever about it being closed. Pretty misleading. I have been fishing WA lakes for probably 5 years but since Flowing Lake was open and nothing said anything different I assumed it was open. Oh well I was wrong but had my license for the warden so she let me off.
I wish the state would print the new reg books sooner. I asked for one at my local sporting goods store and they didn't have any of even the old ones, and the online version like I said, had nothing for Storm.

3/29/2009 11:43:00 PMWhat I don't understand is why Flowing Lake, which is about 100 yards away, is open year round and Storm is seasonal. Also why is it they already planted Storm Lake and not Flowing? Oh well I'm sure WDFW does it for a reason. Good fishing and tight lines!

3/30/2009 3:18:00 PMIn my case, a friend had recommended Flowing Lake and I *thought* I was fishing there. It was an honest mistake. My sense of direction isn't very good, and the two lakes are only a couple hundred yards from each other. It was a learning experience and I definitely won't make the same mistake twice...

3/30/2009 4:12:00 PMYes it can get confusing, especially if your not from that area. I think at least at the public access area they should have the lake name, as well as when the lake season opens. Only because Flowing has different regs and yet the same general area. I know I I wont make the mistake again, but for other anglers who are not familiar it would most definitely be helpful.

3/30/2009 11:03:00 PMHas anyone heard if the sportsman' s club is going to put triploids in Flowing this year? In years gone past I've see reports by now. They used to stock it around the third week of March or so .

4/1/2009 5:23:00 PMYes, The Everett steelhead and salmon club trout derby is Saturday April 4th. They are planting triploids for that derby.
