I have been fishing Long Lake 2-3 times a week for the past 3 weeks with little or no success. Well, I have been catching a lot of fish but all pike minnow. Today I finally caught my first smallmouth right after getting blasted with that hail storm. I had to set my camera on the seat of my car to get a quick shot of this fat female before I released her. I have really been focusing on early crappie but got this nice surprise instead. I am hoping to be on the water tomorrow since I am home from work sick...lol! Still not sure if I want to fish my home lake or go over to Liberty for the trout.

Scott... I'm just wondering if you really meant to post this to Long Lake in Stevens County, or if perhaps you meant Lake Spokane in Spokane/Stevens County? It's a common mistake.

Yes...you are correct. I am a newbee to this site. I fished at Lake Spokane/Long Lake. Is there another Long Lake in Stevens County? Thanks for the input...maybe I will get it right next time. LoL!

Wow...how did you do that? Are you a site administrator? I actually just noticed several other reports with the same mistake.

Site Admin.. :) Yes..

Site Owner, yes.

I don't know enough about the area to know for sure which ones are wrong... is there a lot of them?

I just went and read through all the reports... the ones that are left don't mention enough specifics to know exactly where they were, but I suspect every one of them is for Lake Spokane... anyone else with an opinion on this?

Hey nice fish there, what did it go around 3lbs? And pretty early on in the year, nice job what did she bit on? I went to Liberty for my first time today and it was very windy, so only fished for 3 hrs, but lnaded one 18" bow, the ugliest fish i have ever saw. Good color but it had no fins at all, maybe 40% of tail left and even the fin ontop was bearly intact. I have seen stockers with the front two fins down to nubs but every single one, wow. No fight at all, probably had a hard time getting around. No one was doing very good at liberty today from what i was hearing. Stay ay long would be my suggestion. Stay safe out there.

bazzdude: You should put in a report for Liberty. :)

Thats definitely Lake Spokane, and I can actually see a friend of mine's house in the background (its his rental actually, if anyone is interested).

Im surprised a bass has moved up where you are, but since the water cleared out I suppose they are trying to move up on the baitfish who need to get warm.

Aaron....I think the issue is that Long Lake or Lake Spokane is in both Spokane County and Stevens County. I live in Stevens County and I am not aware of another Long Lake in stevens County. The Long lake I fish was first called Long Lake but a local man tried to get the name of the lake changed due to the fact that there are so many Long Lakes in every state. It makes sense to me but all the old timers up here still call it Long.

Bazzdude....I didnt weigh the fish. She was all of 3 lbs with a belly full of eggs. I was fishing a crappie jig. And thanks for the info on Liberty. I am staying home today I have been sick for a week. Gisteppo...I am always the first guy out of my group of fishing buddies to catch bass out of Long/Spokane. Typically I have a handful of bass caught before April. This year was tough though, one bass on the last day of March!

Aaron...thanks for the info. I will have to check out that little Long Lake. Strange name for a 14 acre lake. LoL. Hey, I am general manager of alumniclass.com. We are a social network for high school alumni. We currently have 2.5 million members. You have a very clean site. We are in Spokane....are you local? Thanks Again.

Thanks scott. I do what I can. ;) I live here in Spokane, and Mike lives in Redmond. It's a good combo that allows us to cover most of the state with ease.
