A great day on the water, but didn't catch many fish. Ended the day with 5 fish caught and released, with the largest estimated around 2.5 - 3#. Fished various spots on the lower end of lake using jigs and spoons with marginal success. A few bites on jigs I missed. I didn't find a pattern that was consistent, caught fish on dark nymph/minnow immitations, blue and white Crappie tubes, and Pink & White maribou 1/16 oz jigs. Water crystal clear and calm most of trip. Got to meet and speak with a couple of WL members while on the water. Always nice to put a boat (I mean a face) with the names. Talked with some folks who had caught several fish, so a productive time on the water for many.
Good luck and tight lines.

Hey blufin, you are correct, it was a great day on the water. I'm sorry I didn't slow down as we trolled by you to chew the fat with you a little longer. I was thinking "FISH, FISH, FISH. I got my wife swinging a fly rod for the first time today and as we were heading back to the launch she stated "that was kinda fun" I'm hoping she's hooked. Anyways, it was a pleasure to finally meet you. See you out there again soon.

Totally understood, And hope your wife gets on the water with ya more. If/when you two make a trip to the pens be sure to stop at the boat-in campground just below the "Lone Pine Island", it make a good halfway place to stretch the legs for those not used to spending long periods in the boat. Picnic tables with fire rings, and A nice toilet there also.
Have a great week.

Hey loui, It just never stops. I've never heard anything about the "boat in campground" Any more info or photos that you might share? That sounds like it could be fun. Is it a boat in only campground or is there access from someplace else?

Big D, Its a boat access only rough campground. It has a smelly chemical toilet, a couple of tables, and a few fire rings. Its 10 or 12 miles up from the dam. I've camped there a couple of times in the past and its a good place to get away from the crowd. Definitely a hot place in the summer. I usually set up camp under the trees in the state park.

Thanks for the info on location Wolverine. Every time we have stopped in, the solar powered vent fan has been whirring and there was a pretty good draft in the nether regions when the seat is used., and no odors. It has always been in good repair and clean. Maybe we've lucked out and only been there after maintenence. But then again I haven't been there in 100 + temps. For a stop over emergency stop ,or rough, (hot in summertime) campout it's not too bad.

Hi blufin & wolverine, Is there a boat dock or do you just pull up on the sand?
Thanks!!!

Nice simple little dock, No probs docking. In summer when weeds are present we have caught perch off the dock.
