We got to the resort on the East end of the lake and launched there around 3. We fished until around 7:30. We didn't even get a bit until around 5. Then the fishing really picked up. We hooked 4 Bows in the 2 to 3lbs. range, but only landed 2 of them. Over all it was perfect weather for fishing. The sun was out and the water was like glass. Oh and the resort launch is 7 dollars but there is a nice dock at the launch, that makes it nice.

Crappie, LM Bass, Blue Gill, and Channel Catfish have been re-planted into Sprague. I saw some of the LMB and Crappie in the fish truck as they were transplanting them from somewhere north of Bridgeport Washington, and they were big enough to catch, and big enough to spawn this year. They want to keep perch out of Sprague because they overpopulate so bad. That is why they put Walleye in there last time, to eat the perch, and they don't want to put Walleye back in there again. I don't like that part about the Walleye, but I have other places to fish for them.

I wasn't aware of the LMB but I did know about the other species. A close friend of mine was one of the primary dept. biologists on the lake and as I understand it the lake was rehabed in an effort to reestablish a healty environment for the crappie. They originally thought that the walleye population was higher than it actually was and figured that they were primarily responsible for desimating the crappie population. What they discovered was that the carp and tench population was the culprit. They were destroying the crappie spawning grounds. I was lucky enough to be on one of the electro-shocking boats for the 2 nights that the dept. conducted their salvage efforts. I can't remember what the actual #'s were but our primary targeted fish were crappie, walleye, and cats. The crappie and cats went to the warm water tanks near Ringold for the winter and the walleye went straight into Liberty Lake. Hope this sheds some light.
