Went out on Silver Lake this morning, rain and wind. Around noon or so decided to troll cranks for skies, was just about to hang it up and kabam!!!! This 18 pound toad crushed my offering. What a fun battle!! My tape only goes to 45', he was a bit longer. Released to fight another day.

HAPPY EASTER WEEKEND!!!! What is the length limit for a keeper muskie on Silver? I have never kept one but I am curious. Actually, I have never caught one that big. Great Job Man!

You say you were trolling for browns? I did not know they were in there. Anyhow, stay safe out there.

Soggy-Respectfully,you need to read the regs. There has never been a 32 inch rule, the previous length was 36.
As of 2008,the rule is now 50 inches

Muskie is actually a really good eating fish. I've ate 3 of them out of Tapps, before they changed the regs to 50" inches (which is BS because they won't grow that big). I'm pretty sure the state record is 51 1/2". Since they are genetically altered, they only have a life span of ten years and only grow for eight of those years. If you do eat one, make sure you skin it. They are a reall fatty fish and if you cook it with the skin on the fat cooks on top of the meat and it tastes really fishy.

Hey Aaron....They are actually quite tasty. I have smoked them and really enjoyed it. They are tricky to fillet and you lose a lot of meat....so, I just smoke em and pick through the bones. They taste like Pike.

I havent killed one in many years and I have never killed a trophy fish that size. Back in the day you cold keep a 3 footer and I have eaten a couple of them. I ate a Pike last year though.

Scott,
Thanks for clarifying. As far as eating pike, get the Y bones out and they are one of the best tasting fw fish I have ever tasted. Grew up eating eyes and pannies, pike are right there. Oh, perch are great to!!
