Arrived at the lake around 8:30 AM. The fish were biting pretty good with trips mixed in with the gaggle of stockers bieng caught, but there was just too many people there for this 'ole hermit to be able to relax and enjoy hisself. So's, I came back at around 4:00 PM. The crowds hads faded a bit.......but so had the action. The bottom "powerbait" bite was slow to non-existant. I fished the south end and the dock using this method for quite some time 'till the jumping,non-biting fish drove me mad and I tied on "Old Faithful"(1/8 oz. black&silver rooster tail) and went for a walk. I was near the boathouse when I felt the blade on my spinner hesitate. The result was a 2+ lbs triploid, who jumped twice and cartwheeled once on me before I landed her. It was about 7:30 PM and although the fish were tearin' up the top water, I only managed two more small stockers before a park employee chased me out for the night. Having spoken to a few people throughout the week there, the main line of assault seems to be the south beach swimming area, with the overflow of anglers occupying the dock and south shore wooded area. The best time to be there is in the morning, and though I've been told by numerous people that the color orange is the only way to go, I've also spoken to an equal number who say the color and distance from the bottom doesn't really matter at all.

ya i went out there with my boat the day they stocked it. the guy on shore were nailing dead, but no one in the boats caught one while i was there. i watched three guys on the shore between the dock and the swimming area limit out in about a half an hour. form what i could tell from the boat they were mostly using rooster tails with sliver spinners then power bait off the bottom. nice looking stockers 12-18 inchers.

I was there on Sat and the bite was off and on. I set up just North of the Boathouse out from the concrete walkway and limited. Of course I rowed trolling for 1.5 hours before I found that spot and went with white power eggs on a long leader because of the weeds. You could do the same thing with a bobber. I do not think the bait matters if you are on the fish and they are biting. Bite was for about 20 minutes then wait 30 minutes. First time out and it was a ton of fun.
