Spincasted from the shores of Green Lake this morining. Walked to there from home for a little exercise. Fished from from 07:30 to 09:00. Had three strikes on a maybe 1/4 oz orange and silver kastmaster, clipped onto a black swivel clip. Got two of the fish in. First one was shortly before at 8am, and was only about 8 inches -- pretty small for going after that big lure.. Second one was at 09:15, and was much bigger, measuring 18 inches, and maybe 2 pounds. He sure put up a fine fight, what a surprise.

There were many other anglers out, many of them catching fish. And there was a kids derby day going on by bathhouse theatre. Great morning to be out.

Urban,

Wow, maybe Greenlake is coming into it's Spring stride. I've been there a couple times in last 3 weeks and did not even see rises.
But you know I love this lake, and it only has to turn on. I'll hit it soon.

Thanks, guys. It sure felt like trout season at Green Lake today. I was working the eastshore, walking and casting. Got the big hookup a little north of the 64th street T-dock, right from the shore. I think there is a hole about there, not too far out. The fish hit pretty close in. This was the most success I have had with a kastmaster on that lake -- don't use them much there, and usually still fish from the T-dock. A little more knowledge gained today.

Nice, you have convinced me to try that dirty lake, I won't swim in it, but I guess I'll fish in it!

Greenlake really is becoming an attraction for fishing. I've seen quite a bit of anglers out there in the afternoon - evening.

Saw some guy sitting on the dock fishing for bullheads. He had caught maybe over 20 bullheads. A couple good sized 8 inch or so bullheads. Also caught a crappie about 6-8 inches doing that as well. who knew greenlake had crappies!

Yes, it is a great place to fish. And the lake does not seem dirty to me, by I know it has that reputation. Needs some scientific facts and data on it, I guess.

Thank you for the detailed report. As you can see, a detailed report will get people talking. that's awesome! also the photo showing the lure next to the fish is helpful (and looks cool). I've heard bad things about the water in the lake over the years, but also heard they're cleaning it up. at any rate, nice fish /nice report.

Hi Ckim85. I was just wondering which pier the bullheads are at. I have seen a guy bottom fishing with worms on the east dock, but he caught trout. Does any one know how the bullhead fishing is in the summer at Green Lake?

@returnoftheifhs - the guy was sitting at on the pier near the stadium thing on the park side right by the golf course. specifically the farthest one east. He was literally just sitting on the edge of the pier dropping his worm on a hook into the water. mind you, most of them were fairly small but he pulled out some good 8 inches or so ones.
