I arrived at the east pier around 1:00 pm. There was a couple there that had been there since 6 am. They both caught thier limits about and hour or more after I got there. I used power eggs and orange power bait. I caught 3 stocked rainbows the whole time I was there. I left around 530 pm. I saw two people use white marshmallows with nightcrawlers. They did not get any bites at all. The last hour I was there, two dudes used power bait and didnt get any bites. I was windy all day and it made it real hard to tell if I was getting nibbles. I missed one bite and lost one trout that jumped in the air. The hook popped out. I didnt set the hook because the fish took the bait and swam towards the shore. I thought that the waves moved my sinker and I was reeling in, only to realize i had a fish on. Does any body know if the bites were slow because of the time i was fishing, or because of the cold front moving through?

I am inclined to say it was the time of day affecting the bite. As both you and I have experienced, the bite seems to be coming on in the late afternoon/evening. I have gotten there at sunrise and stayed until 3PM and not even one bite, but when I'm there after 4 or 5PM I catch fish. I'm sure the morning bite will pick up as it gets closer to summer...

yeah I was there yesterday too for most of the late morning (9:30) into the afternoon (12:30) without a hit. The wind was pretty calm for the 3 hours I was there turning the water into glass where you could see clear to the bottom. Tried every color Powerbait and Poweregg I had with nothing. Maybe I should try getting there at 5:00AM.
