Fished st. clair today to try to get some perch, I really dont like fishing here because my bass luck has not been good here the last 10 years, caught some perch and figured what the heck i'll try my luck for some bass, and hit 2 fish, 1 hog on a nest and another little guy. pretty decent day, got some perch to eat and some bass to be caught again, caught big fish on purple power worm and the little guy on spinnerbait.

Nest? Not to sound like a know it all, but I don't think that the fish will be on nests until around mid June at St Clair when water temps reach the mid 60's. Besides, a bass of that size from St Clair is almost certainly a female and they don't ever sit on nests at all except to swim in, drop their eggs, then swim off. With all due respect to the angler who caught it, that bass was likely a big female who was up close to shore to warm up and eat up in prep for spawn a couple of months from now. Takes a lot of calories to have a successful spawn both for metabolic energy and for egg production too.

Great fish though. Glad to see the success.

rockjiggr thanks for the reply but the fish was targeted, I seen it in the shallows close to shore, and I know what a nest looks like, i'm not a know it all either but I've been bass fishing for over 20 years and I know what a nest looks like. I threw at this fish alot of times and after I caught her and released her she was right back at the same place 2 minutes later? so if she wasnt sitting on a nest I dont know what the heck she was doing, at one point I believe there was another fish with her but i'm not 100% sure. anyway your prob. right and i'm wrong but i'm just telling you what happened.
