Hit Williams about 7:00 AM on opening day ... yikes! (I guess other guys can read too). The public launch was very busy and the F&G patrol was out in force. The water was about 47 degrees and fairly clear with just a slight wind. We trolled out from the launch (~1.3 MPH) and started getting hits right away - used wedding rings and double whammys tipped with worms.
We got into some bigger fish towards the deep hole. Decided we had enough fish by about 11:00 am when the wind kicked up. Except for a couple of impatient knuckleheads back at the launch, it was a splendid day on the lake (4 over 2 lbs, one over 3 lbs, and several little guys).

thanks bazzdude - I discovered double whammys a couple of years ago when fishing for walleyes - they are made by the same folks that make wedding rings (Macks) and are sold in most of the same outlets (like the White Elephant and Sportsman's) - the difference is they have a built-in trailer hook - I like the ones that have at least an inch between the two hooks so you can thread a worm on length-wise so it is in-line with the leader (and not create a ball) - I leave only about 1/2 to 1 inch of worm past the trailer - I loose a lot fewer fish with this setup - give it a try - you can also experiment with combos - a piece of worm on the front hook (long enough to reach the second hook, but not attached to it) and power bait on the second (or whatever)

B Dude. Double Whammy's rock for big Rainbows up at Roosevelt and Rufus Woods triploids. Anothe rkiller bait along the same lines for Big Trout is a Mack's Smiley Blade spinner. (The State record Walleye was caught on this rig down on the lower Columbia.) Linty hit this tip perfectly about how to use a Double Whammy because they catch everything from smallmouth, to walleye, trout and big crappie on Potholes and Moses Lake. The blades and hooks tend to be bigger than wedding ring spinners, but Man, do they work! Silver, Brass, Chartruse and Firetiger being my most productive colors. TJM
