We got to the lake around 5:00PM and were surprised at all the boats and the parking area was almost full. Most people seemed to be leaving then, for dinner I guess but we didn’t talk to them to see how they did. We got our boat in the water and headed out to where we had caught our trout on the last trip here. This trip we did not get any trout but hooked and released over 30 small perch and maybe 7 or 8 fair size pumpkinseeds. I only saw one other boat actually catch anything but didn’t talk to anyone to see how they had done so others may have done OK too.

We ended up keeping 2 or 3 bigger perch and a nice crappie that hit my roostertail that I was trolling on the way back to the launch at dust. We didn’t have any hits from the bass, trout or bullheads this time out but it was still a fun trip. Maybe the trout fishing will pick back up as the water cools this fall.

We did come across an insect hatch as we were heading in and something was actively feeding on them. We didn’t bother to rig our fly rods to see what was enjoying the bug feast so maybe that was where the trout were. Maybe next trip we will check that out.
