Did not plan on fishing Deer it just happened. My best friend and I went to visit a friend on Deer Lake and when we got there he was just heading out to fish for the Macks. So he invited us to go out with him. I did not bring my rod or fishing license (a cardinal sin) so I had to watch.
We headed for the down wind shorline in other words the northeast side of the lake (not the narrows). They put on a chrome-blue-brokenback Quickfish (a two part flatfish) and let it out only two colours. Cruised at 1.2 to 1.5 mph over 30' to 40' of depth while jerking the rod forward a full pull and letting it back to create a pause. After less than 15 min our friend hooked and lost a a very heavy feeling fish. Right after that my buddy hooked and landed a 9lber. Then our friend hooked and landed a 17lber. Smallest of the day being the 9lber and largest the 17lber.
To make a much longer story short they caught there limit in about an 2 hrs. The real reason we went up there was to see how he was catching these fish we have been hearing about and now we know. He has caught two fish over 20 this year and over 20 fish total. There was no other boats fishing on that side of the lake.
Did see a Game Warding on the water as we were heading back then he was driving very slowly on the road up the narrows while we were sitting on our buddies deck. Not sure what they were up to.
