Today was the shortest day ever for me on Rufus Woods. I drove one and a half hours to the lake. I launched the boat at 6:30 am from the corps boat launch and motored up to well #3. Tied on a New & Improved Trout Pellet fly and cast it to the shore. First cast...I hooked a nice pound and a half native in the tongue...into the live well with him. Second cast...Hooked a solid three pound triploid deep in the gills and bleeding when I got him to the boat. Done fishing for the day at 7:00 am. I loaded the boat at 7:30 am and made the hour and a half drive back home. I arrived back home at 10:00 only because I stopped for a cup of coffee and a Mc muffin at Mickey D’s in Brewster. Water temp at well #3 was 41 degrees this morning and it appears as if the fish are hungry. Now, I have time today to mow the lawn…how much fun is that?

Thanks for the report, the fish must have ben aggressive to deep hook the first two of the day. Or maybe you need to tone down the N&I pellet fly so it isn't so attractive. LOL Oh well, just primes the psyche for the next trip. Talked to some boaters on Lake Chelan this AM who had been on RW yesterday. They had caught several but all in the 2-3# class. Congrats on being the April contest winner.
Have a great week and good luck on your next outing.

Hey Loui, It was kinda funny how fast and hard they hit the pellet fly. Almost like they hadn’t eaten in a while. Thanks for the congratulations but it wasn’t because I was the April contest winner, it was because my Lake Chelan report from yesterday was the 20000th report listed on WL.com. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of goodies Mike & Aaron put together. Stay safe out there.

Hey stampie, Short trip yes but a good trip none the less. I think you're correct about the pellet fly. It's been my go to fly for fishing Rufus Woods. I've sold 100's of them and I'm looking forward to hearing other reports where folks have caught limits with them.

Big D,

I think it is great that you followed the regulations and had a good outing, plus had some time for some yard work. That's really cool! I keep hearing about the "pellet fly". I tie flies and would be interested in seeing a picture or a recipe of sorts would work. A pm would be AOK, email me at childda@cwu.edu if you prefer. Thanks for the report.

I am new to posting, have been reading posts for a while. Can anyone tell me or post a picture of what a pellet fly looks like?
Thank you all for the good information!
