I have fished Square Lake 16 times -- the first time back in March 1979. I hadn't fished it for several years however so decided to give it a try today. It was a bit too windy to really fish very effectively from a small boat and the emerging pads were getting thick. I couldn't use the electric motor so it was strictly oar power. I cast mostly a floating frog and did have a few strikes but no hookups. I finally found a little stretch of open water and cast a floating Rapala and hooked up with a nice little bass about 14 inches. The state park host, Sid, took a quick photo before the little bass was released to grow a bit. The 2nd photo shows the exact spot where I had the only hookup. It was too windy to fish any of the 3 beaver huts very well. I was the only fisherman on the lake.

Your photos always look so surrealistic and colorful. Looks like a nice little lake in the woods. I'll bet it was nice and quiet. I wish there were more quaint little lakes like that around here. Thanks for the report!

Nice fish Bob, seems like this spring has been windy. It can make it kind of tough to hold your position in a small boat. I caught my first on a top water frog yesterday...pretty cool.

I have never done that well at this Lk or at least any with any size. Good to see your out there and giving it your all for the pig count. Nice fish Bob in gale force winds boat control must have been tough. Keep on fishing, you know I'll be looking for ya out there.
