I took my over worked wife on a fishing trip to West Medical on Sunday and we both had a great time. The weather was wonderful and the fish fought HARD. My biggest was a 4 1/2lb., 24 1/2" brooder rainbow and my wife caught a brooder rainbow only slightly smaller, We each caught two other nice fish a piece with the smallest being a 12" stocker. I gave both the large brooders to an appreciative, neighboring angler; as in my opinion, the brooders are marginal for eating. Usually, I just release them. All the fish fought HARD with one 16" jumping out of the water several times. My usual garbage P/U was minimal as it was the cleanest in that immediate area in some weeks. Again, this access is a problem one for "Litter Pigs" and I encourge everyone to not only P/U for yourselves, but the PIGS, too.

where we're you fishing from off the shore? Just curious....
I have tried fishing off the public launch and have had NO luck....Not to mention the dock is flooded out!

We were fishing not far from the public launch. The cement walkway is indeed flooded, but the solution is to wear an inexpensive, pair of rubber, dairy- men type boots. The boots will allow you to walk anywhere on the walkway; make a cast and walk back to a dry seat for the bite. At the bite, walk back out to the edge of the walkway; play and net the fish. A common mistake in gear and rigging I see is fishing with way too heavy line, way too short leaders and way too short rods with a lot of lead weight to counteract the drag of the heavy line and the short rod. All the fish were caught on 4lb. test line/leader, an U/L reel with a light reel drag setting and a 7' light action rod with only 3/8oz lead. for a casting weight. You will be amazed at the distace you can cast with a similar setup.
