Another tough day at Liberty. The lake has definitely awoken however. I saw every type of fish in the lake yesterday morning except a perch and I haven't seen a perch in Liberty in years.

Fish Spotted:
Largemouth bass
Smallmouth bass
Rainbow trout
Brown trout
Crappie
Pumpkinseed
Bluegill
Bullhead Cat
and
WALLEYE

I knew I was close to the spotter grand slam and all I needed was the cat, I figured there was no way I'd see a cat... Not much longer, a yellow whiskered beauty cruised right over the cabbage. And the Walleye, holy cow is Liberty starting to develop a strong walleye population. All fish spotted on the inside edge of deep grass in about 8 to 15 feet of water, holding tight to the bottom. I identified maybe 25 - 30 fish above 15 - 16", with some around 20", including one around 8" which I figure means that they are successfully spawning... I'd really like to tie on one of those one day.

On to the bass fishing, high sun and calm waters. The fish were very spread out, still using docks but not with the intensity that they were a few weeks ago. Rather than 10 bass under a dock, it's down to 1 or 2 sometimes. Not sure where the rest of them have gone. Very skittery fish as well, we spooked a lot of fish out to deep water and chased fish from dock to dock most of the day. Still essentially no bedding activity but that should only be a matter of days not weeks if warm weather like this continues. Only one bass was landed Sunday morning, fished slow with a chigger craw on the inside corner of a long dock.

P.S. That picture belongs to my last report from Friday, it didn't come up so I had to try again. :)

I knew I should have blurred that out...

But it's not a Huddleston, it's even bigger and much better, and they're made locally!

nice smallies man . was out at liberty last week in my 1985 ranger that I am recarpeting , had some guy in a brand new skeeter looking down his nose at my boat . I got justice though, i pulled a fat 4.5 pounder out right under his nose . he didnt catch squat ! rangers catch more fish! lol. and they ride like they are on rails. skeeters may be a little faster but nowhere near as safe as a ranger . p.s. my 1985 150 hp mariner will do 75 mph.
