Fished from our dock on east side of Big Lake and first cast with a spinner nailed a 4lb rainbow and within a half hour got another rainbow that went 2.3lbs. Boy what a day! The next hour was great too but the catch went from rainbows to cutthroat averaging 1 1/2 lbs. What was strange was I had been fishing Lake 16 in the morning and only got two bites and only went down to our dock to cast a few times to get rid of some kinks!. Since then It has been fairly consistant with cutts and bows but no more big ones. They have been consistant sizes around a pound or so.
On Monday night some jerks decided that they needed a trolling mtr, 2 batteries, fish box, 2 rods, a net and a can of worms! It will be the last time I leave my boat tied to the dock with gear in it. What's going on in this world? Those worms were fresh and took me over a half hour to dig!

Theres nothing worse than some lowlife theives!! Rob G had some good advice, looking at some pawnshops and craigslist. The local cops wont do much except take ur name and number, but really, what can they do after the fact? i'd be half tempted to set up another boat with some "bait"? maybe these lowlifes will be as stupid as they are greedy? Anyway, good luck.

Actually you can call 911 and have an officer contact you at your residence to take a report. If you do call the police try to have any serial numbers or pictures of your stuff available for them, or at least a good description of each item and its value. Theft of merchandise over $250.00 is a class C felony so I would be very surprised if an officer didn't gladly take a report for you. The case number that is generated from an officer taking a case report would allow you to file a claim with your insurance company if you so desired. If for no other reason, the police won't know that the theft occurred unless you report it. If you are a victim of theft, there could be others in your area in the same boat so to speak, and who knows, the police may be tracking these kinds of thefts in your area already and your information could be useful. Knowing where thefts are taking place allows the police to track this type of criminal activity which then allows them to focus on specific areas which increases the odds of arresting crooks. Bottom lines; if the public doesn't report crime the police won't have knowledge of it. Also, if you report it, the officers can keep your stolen items in mind so when they are out making traffic stops and or contacting folks during their patrol shifts, they might just come across your stuff and be able to arrest someone in possession of it. Also, often time’s stolen property is dumped by a suspect and found by Joe Q Public who then turns it in to the police department as found property. If items are turned into the PD, and they are aware of your incident, you might just get your stuff back. If it's not reported, you have virtually no chance of recovering any of it, nor do the police have much chance of arresting someone who took it or who is in possession of it. Good luck and sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I called the sheirf and recieved a case # the day it happened. Just one of those deals " LIVE AND LEARN". Figured i had about $1500 of stuff stolen. If any body runs into a Minkota riptide transom mount long shaft 80 pound thrust 24 volt that looks suspecious give them a spanking and say bad thief. Lost all my trout / koke /bass tackle. Im really going to miss the assortment of uv sling blades/dodgers squids that dont come cheap this summer up at cavanaugh. Went to sportmans to get the nescesities and walked out $115 broker and didnt even put a dent into what i allready had. MY Rapalas/ topwater assortment. what a bummer. Now its lawn chair city since they stole the 3 legged pedistal (tiller jet sled). The seat is dark gray zolotone metal with charcoal red pinned stripe koffler boats on the bently seat cushion. "OH WELL" the river is open in july this year, the weather is getting warmer ,my work is trying to keep overtime to a min.(hence replacing all this), catching humpys till your arms get tired, its going to be a good spring and summer. Since you guys had to read this little rant on my loss ill give you a report. Fishing been pretty decsent for trout . Trolling 4/0 dodger 50/50 short leader # 2 or #4 red octopus hook to threaded quarter or half nighty fairly slow close to shore without hanging which is about 10 ft or less with this set up. Mostly cutthroat between 10 AND 16 INCHES with an occasional rainbow which can get fairly good size for western washington. Not your typical sewer trout ( NO STOCKING) IN THIS LAKE AS FAR AS I KNOW). As for the warmwater fishery its gone downhill for years out here. There are still some good bass to be had thats for sure but the panfishing has gone to near nothing. Crappie the size of dinner plates, pumpkinseed sunfish so numerous if you had your bobber and worm in the water for more than two seconds and didnt have a bite you would recast., perch were big and people measured them in 5 gallon buckets. Wierd deal. Think i have some ideas what the problems are but i wrote more than this truck driver has in 10 years. If any body sees anything resembling these items stolen give me a shout under a big lake report. THE KOFFLER PEDISTAL WIIL BE HARD TO HIDE SINCE IT IS CUSTOM AND ONLY A HANDFUL ARE AROUND LIKE THAT. I fish as much as two kids and a wife allows so its just a matter of time before i run into it . Serial # s are a bitch if your a thief. Going fishing in the morrning see if i can catch my first silver . thanks for any help .
