Fished Silver lake 5-17-09 with my father and my 5 yr old son. Great weather, flat lake conditions (finally) Silver lake can really get windy at times! This lake has been pounded ( it normally is) at least 4 major tournaments this year so far some of them were 2 day events..... water temp 61-65 degrees by mid morning. Looks like the spawn is mostly over although you may find a few late fish still on beds. Fish would not chase reactions lures for the most part, did however catch one on a jerk bait first thing in the morning at the island on that shallow rock point. Black/blue jig with blue craw trailer, black/blue spider grub ( twin tail) rigged texas style 1/4 ounce weight unpegged, and a black tube with "bleeding gills" bright red inner tentacles caught the bass this day. I caught a 18.25 inch 4+ on the jig and another 2+ on it also, my 5yr old son caught 1 on the spider grub and on the tube about a pound each in very shallow water less than 18". Poor grampa got skunked..... helped the grand son alot. great lake good day......... up at 4am home by 1pm and not a lawn to be mowed in sight! =) we got to the boat ramp at 6:30 am got one of the last parking spots......... very busy lake!
