After getting thoroughly beat down on Lake Washington the day before and driving back Saturday night I headed to Long with the family and my tail between my legs. We got on the water around noon. Went down to Tum Tum and pounded SM on almost everything in the boat. My kids were dragging football heads and tubes and I was throwing a crankbait in between net jobs. We fished deep we fished shallow. It didn't really matter. The coolest part of the pre-spawn is that fish are in every part of the water column. Some are still deep, some have moved up, and some are in between. I could see how somone could be very addimate about where to fish because anywhere you go you are going to catch fish. We stayed fairly deep just because I can get 3 kids all under the age of 9 fishing time instead of hung up on a dock or in a tree. It will probably be this way for the next couple of weeks. I am sure you could have absolutely murdered them on a spinner bait first thing in the morning. I hope to be out this week starting to get the first few fish to eat buzz baits.
** Editors Note ** - Long Lake in Stevens County is a tiny little thing that nobody ever goes to. Tum Tum is on Lake Spokane in Stevens/Spokane County. I'll move this to the Lake Spokane area.
