A late evening on Roses. Hit the water around 4:30ish and came off around sundown. Fished north end because of watersports on shouth end, then a water skier started running back and forth close to where we were fishing, and the wave action put the fish off.
Headed to the south, southwest end and picked up several crappie and bluegill. Berkley nymphs in pearl and grey, and smoke and orange on 1/16 & 1/32 oz jigheads.
Tossed back several fat female bluegills in the 8-9 inch range. kept enough crappie and bluegill to fill a quart baggie with boned fillets. Water temp on north end was 58 and on south end 60+ degrees. Wind out of the north pushing the warmer water to the south end. If you enjoy catching panfish, Roses would provide fast action fishing. There were times when it was a strike every cast. We caught bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, and the everpresent LMB. Didn't catch any big LMB but did see a 3-4 lber cruising the tulies.

Nice report looks like the perfect place to start a young one fishing.Did you fish the jigs with a float?

Hey ya Ganno, I did use a float (trick shown me by the Jigmiester) some, but mostly just tossing a jig and working it (Just my preferred method). If youngsters were interested in catching some fish, a bobber would work wonders, and I have watched "Bobber fishermen" work the panfish in the past, and they were just slaying them. Some refer to our style of fishing as finese, but we just call it slow down and relax fishing. Using a bobber to keep the bait in the strike zone is a very effective method of presentation, and until I had fished with Jigmiester I wasn't aware of the way different "Styles" of bobbers affect the movement and presentation of the bait/jig.Tje crappie were running 8-11 inches and the blue gill 7-9 inches.
