As I was driving through Medical Lake I nearly killed a big black cat that ran in front of my truck. I'm usually not a superstitious person however this was a harbinger of things to come.

I met a couple of poachers fishing with bait on the rocks and gently reminded them of the regulations. They picked up their stuff and left as I got ready to call WDFW. The threw a couple of large rocks close to my pontoon boat just to let me know they weren't appreciative of my "help".

After nearly killing the cat and almost getting into a fight I began to fish around 7:00 am The fishing was very slow (I blaming it on the cat!) with only 2 fish to the net in 4+ hours. There was a good hatch of small black chironomids coming off when I got there but I couldn't get a bite in over 2 hours of trying all the colors/sizes in my box. I finally went to a "Hank of Hair" dry fly and caught 2 nice fish (one Tiger and a Rainbow). That quit working and I began to see some damsels and I changed to sinking line and a Six Pack. This didn't work either (see cat above). Buggers, Ducktails and nymphs all were unsuccessful as well.

Finally gave up around noon.

Tight Lines!
