Another great evening at Roses lake fishing for panfish. Got on the water around 3:00, and there were a few boats on the water at that time, but not crowded. Air temp around 85, and water temp 73-75 degrees depending on location. Fish were not tight to toulies, but suspended in 8-12 feet of water. We released many large bluegill and crappie that were heavy with eggs, so it looks to be a bit longer before they spawn. We Kept 21 Crappie, 27 bluegill and a few yellow perch. We also caught LMB up to 14 inches, but released all those lil guys. Crappie to 11 inches, and bluegill to 9 1/2 inches. The perch were small, but big enough for a fillet, and at the end of fishing we ended up with 8# and 4oz of panfish fillets. Before anyone asks if we're trying to deplete the resource, and why we kept so many, well we were "Meat fishing" this evening, and We have several persons we know who aren't able to fish anymore, but Love a mess of fish, so once in a while we go out and catch them a mess of fish, and panfish fillets are good eating for most people, and the panfish are plentyful. We were using 1/16 oz jigheads with Berkley grubs/nymphs, and minnow immitations in dark colors. The wind came up to the point of white-caps and it was difficult to detect bites at times, but it died down about sunset. We put on bobbers at one time, and the wave action was really working the jigs. We caught several of the crappie that way, but the majority was just casting jigs, and working them slowly..

Wow! Great report Loui! Sure wish I could get in on that bluegill action, haven't caught a bluegill over 5 inches in about 10 years lol. Hope you and Cindy are doing well, great meeting you guys a few weeks ago. I'll have to try to plan a Chelan trip next year that coincides with the Roses bluegill and crappie action. Come on over to the southwest side, we've got some pretty hot shad and sturgeon action going!

Hey flyfisherguy, Wish I were there too, but not to be at this time, but would sure like to hook up with some sturgeon fishing with you someday. When you get a chance to make another trip to this neck of the woods, be sure to let us know, and we'll try to be up-to-date on fishing at that time.

I have a 17 foot Arima... We fish Chelan a lot, but would the launch at Roses work for my boat? I don't like to beach it...

Hi ya Tom, We launch a 20' sterndrive with no probs. The launch is small, and one vehicle at a time, and usually there are folks fishing off the Small dock. The most important thing to remember about the launch at Roses is the algae on the launch is "EXTREMLY" slick. The trick is to put the vehicle in 4WD if you have 4 wheel drive before backing into the water. That way the front wheels will be on dry pavement. Also the launch itself is short, and there is a drop at the end. IF the trailer is backed past this point the wheels drop off and the trailer is on the frame. BAD. So I just back into the water until my rear wheels of the vehicle are close to waters edge, then slide the boat off. If a person has a trailer where the boat is not low swung, it can cause difficulties. With a 2 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE, "DON'T" BACK INTO THE WATER. Search roses lake reports, last year I posted pics of the launch WITH a 2WD submerged. There are scores of larger boats use the launch, but just be aware of the SLICK ramp.
I'll be going to Roses some time this week end, and I'll take pics and try to post them. Today we're going to Wapato to try for some perch.
