The Other BB of BL and I were in a perplexing situation; we had to decide whether to work around our respective yards and mow, do weed removal, apply finishes to our wooden decks on this glorious day--- or go fishing.

We arrived at the Williams Lake public launch when there was just one other vehicle in the parking area. The air was cool and still; the surface of the lake was like a tabletop, with an occasional fish leaping to snatch a bug or two for a snack. The boat went into the drink with no special ceremony---and we were off!

Across the lake we went to troll around the water off Tree 11, but we were not able to coax even one fish to take a stab at our lures. Our fishing poles began to dance in our hands when we got up to just across from Bunker’s Resort. The fish were not striking with the frenzied enthusiasm they had on Opening Day of fishing, even though there were clouds of fish in the lake (as revealed by our trusty fish finder) The warmer lake temperature and the presence of bugs on the lake surface contributed to the slackening of the fishes’ attention. The lake surface was covered by the residue of pollen--- our boat made a path through the yellowish goop as we trolled along the S shoreline of the lake.

We did limit out, catching mostly rainbow trout in the 12”-13” range, and we did manage to capture 2 cutthroat trout in the SW part of the lake. All in all, the lake is still producing fine trout catching--- it just takes a bit longer. Gives a person more time to enjoy the lake!

By the time we made it back to the launching area, it was mid-morning and HOT. Most of the time it wouldn’t matter much--- except I have MS and hot weather and my legs don’t dance together anymore. I was having difficulty getting out of our boat, and my fishing partner was doing his best to help me--- when a couple of fishermen who were at the boat launch saw what my buddy (the Other BB of BL) was doing and one of them came over and helped get my keester outta the boat! Once I was able to stand, I was okay. What a way to end a good fishing morning… I am always receiving help from That Other Guy In The Boat (who is also my neighbor and friend) and it is humbling to get help from others when it is needed.
