Lake Chelan remains very Productive for the elusive Laketrout..Targeting these fish off Mack Bar and in the trench out from Pat and Mikes.. Best bait has been the Ace Hi-fly by Silverhorde tipped with either herring or Northern Pikeminnow fillet trolled at 1.2 to 1.5mph.The Luminous Purple Glow Flatfish in the T-4 size also is working well..
The Kokanee have spread out in the lower Basin of Lake Chelan now that the water temperature is above 50 degrees..They have started there Migration to the head waters to prepare for spawning in early Fall..They still can be caught in good numbers from the Yacht Club up lake..
Chinook fishing is tough right now..But not impossible..I do think the reason for the tough bite is that these fish now have a a full plate of what ever they want to eat with the Kokanee and Northern Pikeminow in real great numbers in the Lower Basin..You have got to make a Chinook mad with a lure that has alot of action and color and Scent..Scent everything with either herring or shrimp scent..You have got to hide the human scent!!!
Lots of water flowing into the upper tributaries that feed lake Chelan right now due to the Warm Weather..Be extra cautious when recreating on Lake Chelan pay close attention to Rafts of Debris, and Fellow boaters as we head into our Busy season...Thanks to all that fished with me this last week..Good luck to all and Tight Lines...
