Fished off the dock at Klink's resort.

Technically, I should have reported a 2 for my method of fishing... I was actually bottom fishing with a chartreuse power egg and worm. I caught one, might have had another, but didn't get the hook set.

However, I rated this trip as a 3. My friend set up a slip bobber rig with a chartreuse power egg and was probably fishing around 20 to 30 feet deep. I believe that the lake in this area may be around 50 feet according to another fellow on the dock. I would have put on my slip bobber, too; but unfortunately, there just wasn't enough room with all of the other people fishing from the dock. My friend landed 2 and almost had a third, but it jumped off the hook and out of the way of the net at the last moment. There probably would have been more had my friend been paying better attention as to how much slack was in the line between the pole and the bobber because there were a lot of strikes at that depth. A little less slack probably would have made a big difference.

The fish being caught at this location were all about 12 inches in length.

On an interesting note, I witnessed another angler cast his pole into the lake. Be careful of residual sunscreen on the hands!

Kinda curious why the need for a bobber with Berkley Power Eggs as they float on their own? I fish them at the end of an 18"-24"+ leader with a sliding sinker. They only way they don't float is by using too large of a hook.

The slip bobber was used to get the bait up in the 20 foot range instead of the 50 foot range. I was using the technique you described, and the bottom - 24" (48 feet) just didn't seem to be producing the strikes on this date. Perhaps a worm with the power bait (or worm only) on the slip bobber may have been more effective because I'm sure that the power bait was allowing the worm to float up around the rest of the line.
