First time fishing Winchester. I mainly explored the lake since it was my first time there. Located a bunch of blue gills in a little cove of cat tails. Had fun catching 20+ of those little guys. They were way to small to keep but great for having a little fun. Also saw a quite a few LG bass swiming around or on nest. Caught four 3-4lb bass, all were picky about the lures/bait. Each one was caught on a different lure. Over all it was a good outing. Will return to this lake during the summer.

Anyone fish this lake?

Where exactly is the lake. I thought it was all canal? I would like to try up there, so any info. would be appreciated. Sounds like a good trip all in all. Any spots to watch out for on the lake eg hidded underwater prop eaters?

guys. Wichester comprises of an irrigation water storage pond just North of I-90 about 2 miles west of the Dodson road overpass as you are heading east towards Moses Lake. The Winchester Lake portion is adjacent to the I-90 rest area, with water flowing south under the Highway, thru 2 culverts. The second area is accessable along Doson road, wheres theres WDFW toilets and a primative boat launch. This water way passes thru a wildlife refuge on its northwest path and passes under Dodson road and winds and snakes on a path of at leas 5 miles , where it flows into Potholes Revevoir North of Mardon resort. I have fished the Northern pond for panfish like perch, bluegill and crappie and have nabbed Largemouth, smallmouth, walleye and some big channel catfish on the southside of the I-90 culverts. Access to the lake portion is via the North frontage road as is the culverts along the the South frontage road. Theres a spillway that feeds the Northlake and theres awesome big perch fishing up in the canal portion by the road 5 bridge in early spring. I usually use 1/2 oz rattle spot crankbaits and white spinner baits with gold willowleaf blades to search for bass. Once I find them I toss 5" babybass Senko's and watermelon brushog flippin baits for big Largemouth along the cattails. It's primarily sand bottom with only a couple minor rocky stretches. Wincheser has game land around it and gets hunted pretty heavily for ducks, geese and pheasants in the fall. The Jigmiester
