Launched at 6:30am and headed straight for the s.e. corner of the lake. Began the day trying topwater baits, a white zara spook in a walk the dog retrieve along the outside edge of a lily pad field, and a black buzz bait in and through the pads. Only blow up was on the buzz in the pads, tried following up with a senko but couldn't get him to come back. Continued down to the south end of the lily pad field, and doubled back, moving deeper and throwing a Rapala DT6 in a pumkinseed color until the lip broke off, grrrr, that was my favorite one too!! Oh well, tied on a new one in shad color and continued working grass and logs in 8-15 feet of water, that produced one small one. Headed down to the far south and shallow end, and threw a golden shad double willow spinnerbait around docks and rocks, that produced three more and four misses! I saw a school of squawfish and wished I could catch a mess of those to make instant crawdad bait out of, but they wouldn't play...

About 9am I headed north and fished the west side back south catching smallies on 4" Yamamoto grubs on a 1/4oz Hoot Ninny jig head, and my DT6 crankbait, with the majority coming on the crank, boat positioned in 15 feet, casting up to about 3-5 feet. The fish were definately under the docks for shade. I was retreiving the crank at a fairly steady pace, but if I felt a bump I would burn it and they would nail it everytime! The wind had picked up and was blowing at the perfect speed and direction to move me right down the shoreline, that was nice for a change and saved a ton of battery juice!

I tried points out to 15 feet with deep cranks in the same color, worms and grubs on 3/8oz jig heads to no avail....it was a dock fishing day!

Never touched a largemouth, but saw a couple in the 4-5lb class cruising the pads in about 2 feet of water.

It was hotter than the hubs of Hell, and I was very hungry by about 6pm, and with battery #1 on it's last legs, I decided to call it a day. Water temps were 68 at 6am and 74 at 6pm all in all I boated about a dozen from 1-3.5lbs, missed about the same, and aside from the heat, greatly enjoyed myself.
