Fished Wapato from around 1300 - 1630, trying for the yellow perch. Used Small plastig grubs, minnow immitation, crappie tubes, spoons, plugs, and even the lowly night crawler. Lots of perch observed following the baits but difficult to get one on the hook. We tried all the combos and techniques we could think of and they were still reluctant to bite. We caught perch on about everything we tried, it just wasn't a bite every cast.We ended up filleting 20 some odd of the perch, a few larger bluegill and a couple of crappie. We saw a few crappie moving to the available cover but not very many. A few bass beds, but nothing watching them at this time. All along the shoreline we saw LMB cruising, mostly in pairs. A couple boats fishing for bass but didn't see any caught. Talked with one camper who had been camped on Wapato since Monday, and they hadn't had much luck catching trout. On the depth finder, the trout looked to be holding nearer bottom in the deeper water. Saw two batches of newly hatched Mallards, and two pair of geese with their goslings. A nice although warm day on the water.
It's a great time to be out on our waters, so enjoy them every chance you get.
