By far the WORST time at Wilderness I have ever had. Do these fish just stop biting after opening week or something?? I fished it all weekend long, from friday until today, and didn't get a single fish. i had a couple of hits on a plain silver spoon i was throwing at trout but i coudn't get a good hookset so i lost every one of them (just 3). So I eventually decided to go for bass since the trout were pissing me off. This is kind of a continuation of my previous post on this lake, since I got a comment from Rob G. on this issue. I knew there were huge bass in this lake from what I saw last weekend, and also since Rob told me earlier, but never had I seen one up close before. I was fishing the private side once more and along the fallen log on the bank i witnessed a LMB, no less than 8 pounds watching my 7 inch powerworm from afar. i slowed my presentation to entice it closer but it merely drifted lazily over to it, looked at it, then turned around. before it left though, it was joined by a second bass roughly the same size. both fish left in the same direction. I saw this on friday, and after not seeing them again the rest of the day, made it a mission to catch at least one of them. well, it never happened. I saw them numerous times over the weekend, even once accompanied by a 3rd, smaller bass, maybe 5 pounds or so, but still nice. but they never hit anything i threw at them. only seeing them was the highlight of this weekend of fishing. i got skunked all three days, got annoyed by watching others in boats catch a few, and just didn't have that good of a time. i think it's about time i got a boat.. maybe that'll help.

a boat will definately help....I'm sure glad someone else spotted that bass...that thing is a trip...I don't believe anyone will catch it! Let's name him! or her since from what I've been reading on here is that the larger bass are usually female...did you try the point between the launch and the dock? People usually catch fish there....just power bait and 4-5 ft leader......

Purchase a pontonn or float tube..cheaper and still effective!

Haven't fished their since last summer due to being at school but plan on hitting it up in a week or so. I have only been skunked a couple times on the lake always on the park side of the lake. I usually walk around to the other side and find a spot always come away having caught at least a few. There are some monster bass in there as well. I hooked into one last summer on a vibrax went to lip him and lost him.

haha yes, a worthy name for a worthy opponent. we'll catch him/her yet! i'm dedicating this summer fishing time to catching that fish. and i usually don't get skunked there, but for some reason this year is killer.. maybe i just have to give it time.
