For Smallies, stick to the smaller profile baits, drop shotting 4" plastics like a roboworm or a sniper snub or bolt should help there, stick to brown and green pumpkin colors. Focus on the slightly deeper docks, 10-15' and practice getting that dropshot rig up into them as tight as you can and then slowly work it back out, making sure you keep that weight on the bottom at all times. Early in the a.m. don't be afraid to throw cranks and spinnerbaits up shallow. North of 520 you can hit Webster Point right by the big channel marker and work both the point as well as the docks up in there. In my opinion it's still a bit early for topwater to be super productive, but that's just my opinion, I'm sure others would disagree. If you are in the lily pads around Juanita Bay then you are in LM territory, so try deadsticking a senko on the edges, burning a spinnerbait through there, or even throwing a frog way up in the pads. 6/8/2009 10:12:00 PMSince you're on the 520 side stay 2 the West and you'll see a big green sign up high off the shoreline that reads "21",..follow the docks along the west side and north of 520,..I use a Jointed Perch Rapala and spring-summer-early fall I nail them along the docks! I have caught a few smallies in Lake Union but only one in Lake WA after 3 outings. The one I caught was off Webster Point on a drop off between the bouy marking the channel and a very big sailboat moored off one of the docks on the point. I got him on a big lipped perch colored sinking Rapala at about 12ft. Since then, nothing. The only largemouth I have caught was an 8 inch dink just outside the Stadium. I have heard they are in this area but seem tough to fool.
It sounds like I need to get in tighter to the docks and really work them hard. I have a flat bottom boat that likes to get blown around a bit so I have been trolling just outside of them. That has yielded nothing. I tried to stay under 20ft deep but it does not take much to suddenly be at 100ft+ in this lake.
Thank you for the advice. I'm off to Outdoor Emporium to stock up on your suggestions. I will post any future success and pictures.
