This is my first report...I have been shore fishing L. Washington for the last few weekends trying out new spots. I've been catching 1-2- smallies per four hour trip, not much to their size. This sat. I went for 4 hours off of the Mercer Island North end, at a park called Burbank Park I think...Fished the docks for about an hour and worked the shoreline with a perch rapala. Caught my first ok sized smally, about 1-2 lbs. Any tips on where to find some decent sized bass from shore? I've been fishing the west/north side of 520 because of the lilies and what looks like great LM fishing, but have had no luck to date. Best of luck!

Hi Gary, I sent you a PM with some more detailed info which I hope will help. Based on your report, I'd say you are actually having pretty good success for being limited to the shore! Although I might be getting a bit better size on my trips, I've been getting 6-7 fish in an 8 hour day in my last two trips. Actually this past Saturday, I did a 6 hour trip on Lk Wa, and only got one 2 lb smallie on a crankbait, and one 5 lb squawfish. I think the smallies are starting to move out a bit deeper, like towards the inside weed edge or first break out from the flats, and that makes them a bit more difficult to target from the shore. Perhaps you could try upsizing your bait selection a bit, like throwing a 1/2-3/4 oz rattletrap, or a 1/2 oz spinnerbait, or even a 1/2 -3/4 oz carolina rig, something that will allow you to launch the bait a mile, and most importantly cover as much area from the shore out towards deeper water as you can! Best of luck! -Dave
