I think i'm the luckiest guy in the world sometimes when it comes to fishing. Even on the crappiest days, I have some sort of silver lining.
Yesterday was my first day ever on Sawyer (and I've lived in Enumclaw my whole life). It rained on us three times (never longer than 5-10 minutes, but a downpour when it came!).
we trolled wedding rings, flat fish,, roosters, etc tipped with worms. never a bite. We worked around the island and docks throwing plastics and cranks, never a bite. We tried a ton of stuff and just couldn't pull anything in.
Finally... while sitting next to a dock we had a couple worms on the bottom and got probably 5-6 strikes. I finally reeled in to check my bait and saw a clump of mud surface on my hook. get it closer to the boat... and it's a slimy little bullhead! I've never caught one before!
So summarize:
Crappy crappy weather (-1)
crappy crappy bites (-1)
First time on new lake (+1)
Caught a new species (+1)
Tried out the new 9.9hp motor on the 12' boat (+1)
overall a positive day if put it that way!
