It was a gorgeous day at the lake today. I got about 7am and there were already 12 or so people there so the good spots were taken. A couple of guys were catching fish with yellow/orange powereggs on 12' leaders. I started with my usual rig (3' leader and yellow powerbait) but turned up nothing. Tried some different lengths on the leader line, but nothing. Finally around 10am the sun broke through the clouds and most of the early anglers left giving me access to my normal fishing zone (its a secret :o) ). Using the 3' leader and yllw PB I nabbed a 12" rainbow just about 10 minutes after casting. It was the only one I caught.

I think that the fish are lower because the surface temp is pretty warm. Also I didn't see much surface action this morning such as fish jumping and so forth. It was pretty calm. I think I like the 1p - 5p fishing times. Someone told me that 5p - 7p was the best time.
