Good day to be back out on Liberty. We've had such unsettled weather to kick off summer this year, I think the fish were happy to see the warm sun again. We launched at about 5PM and fished till dark. The water started at just under 72 degrees and fell to just above 67 by the time we left.
I didn't have my hopes up, I don't have a lot of post-spawn skills, but we pinned some fish today. We caught a total of five keepers and a dink, the largest are shown in the pics. Granted, the big females are obviously not where we were fishing but I was happy to put some 1 to 2 pounders in the boat. All fish were hooked in quite shallow water, less than six feet.
Started off hitting fish on Senkos (big suprise), later on had good success with spooks. That's Todds first topwater fish and that fish really helped him out, hit his bait three times before he hooked up. I'm glad the beginnings of the summer topwater patterns are showing up!
Anyways, good fishing, lot's of rec boaters and jet skis, welcome to summer.
